Next EuroMillions Superdraw Announced as Irish Player Picks Up €1 Million
Last Updated: Thursday 29th July 2021, 14:01 pm
The next EuroMillions Superdraw will take place on Friday 20th April, with a guaranteed jackpot of €130 million, no matter what happens in the previous draw. The news comes after a weekend that saw an Ireland Only Raffle player secure a €1 million payday.
EuroMillions Superdraw
EuroMillions Superdraws, also known as Megadraws, offer fixed nine-figure jackpots on specific dates throughout the year. They are funded by the game’s Booster Fund, which receives a slice of every draw’s prize pool. Its main objective is to ensure the jackpot never drops below €17 million, but when it runs at an excess, the participating countries can agree to hold a Superdraw.
Even if someone wins the top prize in the draw prior to the Superdraw, the jackpot is fixed at €130 million. If no one matches the five main numbers and two Lucky Stars on the night of the special event, it rolls over to an even larger amount for the next draw and continues to roll until someone hits the jackpot.
Previous EuroMillions Superdraws
The first Superdraw took place on 9th February 2007 and was won by a Belgian ticket holder. The most recent Superdraw took place on Friday 15th September 2017, rolling over on the night and eventually growing to €190 million on Friday 6th October, when a Spanish player claimed the full amount.
There have been 19 Superdraws so far, plus one draw in June 2014 when a Superdraw was called but was then postponed after the jackpot rose above the advertised €100 million in advance. The next event will be the first ever to be held in an April.
Ireland Only Raffle Winner
Friday night’s EuroMillions draw was a memorable one for a Dublin ticket holder, who won €1 million in a special Ireland Only Raffle draw. The player bought their EuroMillions ticket at a Costcutter in Windy Arbour in Dundrum in the capital and matched the winning code I-DLR-55064 to wake up as a millionaire on St Patrick’s Day.
The Ireland Only Raffle is a supplementary game that all Irish EuroMillions ticket holders are automatically entered into when they play. Usually it provides ten prizes of €5,000, but occasionally there is a boosted €1 million award added on to one winner’s haul.
Friday’s winner has 90 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize.
In the main EuroMillions draw, the winning line was 4, 17, 24, 27 and 31 with Lucky Stars 10 and 11. There was no jackpot winner and the biggest prize won in Ireland was €31,260 for matching all five main numbers. Tuesday’s EuroMillions Jackpot
Although excitement is already building ahead of the Superdraw on Friday 20th April, you can still win a huge sum on Tuesday night, when the EuroMillions jackpot is worth €25 million.
