Ireland’s €88.5 million EuroMillions winners have picked up their prize and will now enjoy a low-key celebration with loved ones before splashing out on sunshine holidays. The syndicate picked up their cheque from Irish National Lottery headquarters yesterday after jackpot funds were transferred to Dublin from the eight other participating countries.
The anonymous group bought their multimillion-Euro ticket for the draw on Tuesday 24th January at the Applegreen service station on the M1 in Lusk in the capital, with the retailer reporting a surge of lottery fans snapping up tickets in the days following the win, hopeful of sharing some of the good luck received by Ireland’s tenth EuroMillions winners.
The syndicate’s spokesperson declared the group were “absolutely delighted” with the win, remarking that they were looking forward to the “financial freedom” from not having to worry about mortgages and other bills. Asked about their plans, the spokesperson said, “we’re looking forward to enjoying the win with our families and we might indulge by booking our sun holidays in the next couple of days.”
They added, “we will be having a quiet party with family and friends to celebrate our good fortune. We will not be getting carried away with our win and we will return to normal everyday life as soon as possible.”
Irish players are currently enjoying a purple patch in Europe’s premier multinational lottery, with a Galway player matching five numbers and one Lucky Star on Friday 3rd February and a Dublin ticket holder collecting the €500,000 EuroMillions Plus jackpot on the same day.
There is a €37 million jackpot available tonight if you fancy your luck and you can play EuroMillions online or at authorised retailers across the country. Would you celebrate an eight-figure win with a holiday, or would you prefer to go mansion shopping next week? With €37 million in your bank account, you could do both!
