EuroMillions Player In Ireland Wins €17 Million Jackpot
Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 09:49 am
EuroMillions players in Ireland have been urged to check their tickets after someone from the country won the jackpot in last night’s draw. The lucky participant was the only winner in the whole of Europe and will pocket €17 million when they come forward to claim their prize.
What Were The Winning EuroMillions Numbers?
The winning numbers for Tuesday 5th June were 9, 15, 22, 39 and 46, with Lucky Stars 4 and 5. Among the 1.2 million prizes given away across the nine participating countries, there were 30,450 winners in Ireland.
Go to the EuroMillions Results page to find out more details about the different prize amounts and the number of winners in each tier, along with the results of the latest EuroMillions Plus draw.
What Must The Winner Do Now?
Ireland’s jackpot winner must now come forward to collect their prize within 90 days, otherwise they will miss out on their eight-figure sum. Once they have made contact with Irish National Lottery officials, they can decide whether they want to stay anonymous or go public, and finally they can start to enjoy their winnings.
The first step, though, is to make sure they realise they have won, and a reminder has been issued to everyone who played on Tuesday not to discard their entries too quickly. A National Lottery spokesperson said: ““This is amazing news! What a great start to the summer for this lucky ticket holder.
“We are asking all our players to check their tickets carefully to see if they are the lucky winner or winners. If they are we encourage them to sign the back of the ticket, keep it safe and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 01 836 4444.”
When Was The Last Irish EuroMillions Winner?
The last time the EuroMillions jackpot was won in Ireland was in the final draw of 2017. A family from Dublin banked €38.9 million on Friday 29th December 2017 and later declared that they were thinking about a new business venture, a holiday to the Bahamas or the Maldives and a new home, although they added that they had ‘no plans to move to the moon’.
Ireland has now had 13 winners since joining EuroMillions in 2004. The record for the largest prize ever won in the Emerald Isle remains the €115.4 million snapped up by part-time cleaning lady Dolores McNamara on 29th July 2005.
Can The Run Of Winners Continue?
Tuesday’s success followed hot on the heels of a double win on Friday night, when ticket holders from Spain and Portugal split a EuroMillions jackpot of €74.2 million. An Irish Lotto player also won €4.3 million on Saturday night, and Irish National Lottery officials have now confirmed that the winner has been in touch.
Arrangements are being made for the lucky player to complete their claim in the coming days. The winning ticket was bought at Whitty’s Mace in Caherdavin, Co. Limerick, and store owner DJ Whitty has expressed his delight at the news. He said: “The win is fantastic for the town of Caherdavin and there’s a great buzz around the town since the news came through.”
