Donegal Player Wins €16,500 From a 50 Cent EuroMillions Bet

A Donegal EuroMillions bettor has won €16,500 from a 50 cent bet on the lottery, joining a host of punters who have stung the bookies in recent weeks. The anonymous winner faced odds of 33,000 to 1 against correctly guessing four of the winning numbers in Friday night’s draw, but succeeded in claiming the astonishing return.
The punter put down the tiny stake with Boylesports and correctly guessed that 4, 16, 20 and 25 would turn up in the pan-European lottery’s winning line. Liam Glynn from the bookmaker said, “we would like to congratulate the lucky customer and wish them happy spending with their winnings after they defied the odds of 33,000/1”.
Boylesports was also on the receiving end of two big Irish lottery betting wins in July, with a Cork punter banking €16,000 and a Tipperary customer receiving €33,000, having placed a wager worth just €1. Betting on EuroMillions and Irish Lotto is a popular way of playing the games, with the potential to win big for matching relatively few numbers. If the Donegal winner had matched four main numbers in the same draw on a traditional lottery ticket, they would have received just €106. One of the downsides of EuroMillions betting is that you do not receive the chance to play for the multimillion-Euro jackpots on offer.
