Will EuroMillions Winner Claim Prize Before Christmas Deadline?

Last Updated: Thursday 7th December 2017, 09:15 am

The winner of a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus jackpot has been urged to come forward before the prize expires on Christmas Day. The all-important ticket dates back to the draw on Tuesday 26th September, and was purchased at the Kilmoon Service Station in Ashbourne, Co Meath.

The winning line in the EuroMillions Plus draw on 26 September was 17, 31, 37, 40 and 46, and the player who matched all five numbers now has until 25th December to claim their cash, otherwise they will miss out and the money will be returned to the Irish National Lottery.

“There is somebody out there with a EuroMillions ticket worth €500,000 so we are appealing to our players to check their tickets carefully,” said National Lottery chief executive Dermot Griffin. “The deadline for this prize is December 25th, so we would love to see them in our Winners’ Room before Christmas so they can celebrate the holiday season in style.”

Irish National Lottery Prizes

All Irish National Lottery players must come forward within 90 days to claim any prize they are due, so it is very important to check tickets quickly if you played through a retailer. Anyone who chooses numbers online will be automatically notified if they have won.

One participant who has been able to celebrate a €500,000 windfall is a lucky lady from Co Clare who won the EuroMillions Plus top prize on Friday 10th November. However, she admits that she might have missed out had it not been for television star Ryan Tubridy.

She explained: “My friend and I religiously watch the Late Late Show each and every Friday night and we had entered the viewers’ competition with the hope of winning some cash to make the Christmas a little easier. Tubs didn’t announce my name and, with a little disappointment, my friend joked that we’d be probably have had better luck in the EuroMillions draw that night.”

The winner from Clare is now looking forward to having a special Christmas with her family, and then says there are just three things that she wants. “To clear my mortgage, a brand new car and of course a cruise.”

Huge EuroMillions Jackpot

Other Irish National Lottery players dreaming of a great Christmas can try to pick up a fortune before the big day by taking part in any of the exciting draws over the next two and a half weeks. The EuroMillions jackpot is up to a colossal €105 million ahead of Friday night’s game following a run of nine rollovers, and you can give yourself a chance of winning by going to an authorised retailer or choosing numbers online. Good luck!
