A lucky ticket holder from Munster has become Ireland’s 17th EuroMillions jackpot winner after matching all the numbers in Friday night’s €30 million draw.
The winning numbers on Friday night were 13, 18, 38, 42 and 45, with Lucky Stars 7 and 11. More than 1.8 million prizes were paid out across Europe, including 45,294 in Ireland, but only one player landed the €30,928,078 payout that everyone had been looking for.
It is the first EuroMillions jackpot to have been won in Ireland for more than 18 months, since an online player from the Leinster area won €49 million.
Friday’s winning ticket was purchased at Larkin’s Gala Service Station, Garryurtneal, Ballina, Killaloe, which is a family-run station that borders three countries - Clare, Tipperary and Limerick.
The search for the winner will therefore focus on the southwest of the country, with players urged to check their tickets to find out if they have won.
Siobhan Larkin, the co-owner of the service station alongside husband Michael, said: “We are coming up to 21 years in business here this March so what a way this is to mark the occasion.
“The vast majority of our customers are locals so we hope that the winner might be a local too and wish them all the very best with their huge win. This win is going to be absolutely huge for the community.”
The winner has also been congratulated by lottery officials, rounding off a remarkable week that has seen three new millionaires created across Ireland. The winners of the record €19 million Lotto jackpot from January have also come forward to claim their money.
Friday’s EuroMillions winner has 90 days from the draw date to make their claim, giving them until 12th May. The next draw will offer a top prize of €17 million.
