A man from Munster has joked that Irish National Lottery officials will be ‘getting sick’ of him after he came forward to pick up his third massive cheque. The lucky player is now hoping that lightning can strike for a fourth time as he goes in search of an even larger EuroMillions prize.
The lottery fan had his first big win in 2004 when he won bagged €300,0000 on Lotto Plus 1, while he was later part of a syndicate which scooped him €500,000 in 2006. He has now claimed a EuroMillions reward of €19,912 after matching all five main numbers in the draw on Tuesday 30th May.
“I know it’s not a life-changing amount but it is still nice and will allow me do some things. I don’t know yet how I will spend this win but first I will go for a pint in Dublin and take a few days off. This win shows that lightning can strike not once, not twice, but three times.” Speaking on Tuesday as he collected his winnings, he added: "I am not ruling out winning again. I have already bought my EuroMillions ticket for tonight.”
The winner has decided to keep his identity private rather than go public, but there is no chance that the money will go to his head. A friend, who accompanied him to National Lottery headquarters, said: “He is the same person. But it is unbelievable that he has won three times. When he called me to tell me I thought he was kidding.”
The EuroMillions jackpot rolled over on Tuesday, pushing the top prize up to a fantastic €73 million for the next draw on Friday night.
