Irish National Lottery officials have confirmed that the player who won Saturday’s €8.5 million Irish Lotto jackpot has already been in touch about claiming their prize, and is now set to receive their winnings very shortly.
Arrangements Being Made For Latest Jackpot Winner
The lucky ticket holder snapped up the incredible prize after matching the numbers 5, 6, 14, 19, 22 and 30 in the Lotto draw on Saturday 12th May. It was quickly announced that the all-important entry had been sold at the Corrib Oil service station in Loughrea, Co Galway, and the winner has wasted little time in coming forward.
A National Lottery spokesman said: “This is the largest Lotto jackpot prize so far this year so it was fantastic that the ticket holder has got in touch so quickly. We are now making arrangements for the winner or winners to collect their prize over the coming weeks.”
Winners in Ireland have 90 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes, and four players have now landed the jackpot since the start of the year. Go to the Irish Lotto Results page to find the latest winning numbers, plus breakdowns of all the prizes given away.
May Getaway Winners Come Forward
As well as the jackpot winner on Saturday night, three players also matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball of 24. Each of these participants won €41,933, along with a €20,000 luxury holiday thanks to the Irish Lotto’s May Getaway promotion.
Two of the winners have already been in to Lotto HQ to claim their prizes. One of the players, who bought her ticket from Dunnes Stores in the The Marshes shopping centre in Dundalk, Co Louth, revealed that she had not initially realised quite how big the prize was.
She explained: “I do my numbers based on birthdays of family members so at first glance I knew I had won something. I thought the prize was for about €7,500 which I was thrilled with. I called my sister to double check the prize for the five numbers plus bonus online. I nearly had to be pulled up off the floor when she told me it was for €41,933.”
It was only the next day when the winner noticed details of the May Getaway promotion on her ticket and discovered she would also be able to look forward to a fantastic holiday. She said: “I got straight on the phone to the sister and got her to check again online if this was this true. We both started screaming when she said it was. I refused to believe this until I called the National Lottery yesterday when they confirmed."
The Dundalk mother, who has decided to remain anonymous, added: “It is just amazing. I might have been one number short of the jackpot but for me, this is like winning the Lotto. I am looking forward to sharing this with my family and it will go a very long way.”
