A syndicate of 24 members from a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Limerick struck lucky in last Friday’s EuroMillions draw after matching five main numbers plus one Lucky Star to land €192,935. The group, who are all part of the Ballybrown GAA club, have been playing together for about a year and enter 24 Quick Pick selections in each draw.
They are now celebrating a windfall which will see each individual snap up over €8,000, and club member Theresa O’Neill admits it feels extra special to have won as part of a syndicate. She told The42: “We’re all club members and work hard for the club. As club members we won it and as individuals we won it. We’re all neighbours. It was absolutely fantastic that there were 24 of us in it and 24 different families - one member from each family was involved.
Theresa, who added that the syndicate consisted of referees, bar managers, coaches, chairmen, secretaries, treasurers and sponsors, insisted that they would keep on playing EuroMillions, while everyone in the group is now ‘looking forward to splashing out on a fantastic Christmas celebration’.
Joining a syndicate allows players to maximise their chances of winning prizes by picking up more tickets without having to worry about the cost of more entries. Groups can be formed with friends and colleagues, like at the Ballybrown GAA club, or by playing in an online syndicate. If you fancy following in the footsteps of the lucky syndicate from Limerick then you can enter EuroMillions on Friday, when a Superdraw will be offering a jackpot of €100 million. You don’t have to wait until Friday to play for a fantastic prize either, as the next Irish Lotto draw takes place tonight and there is €2.5 million up for grabs for anyone who match all six main numbers following Saturday’s rollover.
