Irish Ticket Holders Eye EuroMillions Jackpot of €165 Million

EuroMillions players across Ireland are already dreaming of adding this Tuesday’s €165 million jackpot to their own personal wealth. The top prize increased in size following Friday’s draw which saw a potential windfall of €152.7 million go unclaimed.
Ireland in EuroMillions
There will be plenty of fingers being crossed and prayers being offered ahead of Tuesday draw, as players across the Emerald Isle aim to win big. Should an Irish ticket holder land this colossal sum, they will instantly become the nation’s biggest prize winner ever, bettering Dolores McNamara of Limerick, who walked away with €115.4 million in August 2005. The former cleaner remains Ireland’s biggest ever lottery winner, but for how much longer?
To date, Ireland has produced 11 of the 374 jackpot winners, a total which last increased in July 2017 when a player scooped a top prize of €28.9 million. A 12th win would see the nation chip away at the gap of three wins that currently separates Ireland and Austria, while the four win gap up to Switzerland would also decrease. France currently leads the way in terms of jackpot winners with 87.
The latest draw
While plenty of Irish players picked up a ticket ahead of Friday’s draw, Lady Luck failed to return any calls as the jackpot remained untouched. Two ticket holders each secured €3,430 in the Match 4+2 prize tier, while a further 91,978 participants (from a total of 3,324,206 prize winners) ended the night with rewards ranging from €5 for matching two main numbers to €185 for correctly predicting four main numbers and one Lucky Star.
The winning numbers were 6, 11, 31, 39 and 42, with 1 and 3 appearing as the Lucky Stars. For additional draw information and a complete prize breakdown, head to the EuroMillions Results page.
EuroMillions Plus winner
While there may not have been any jackpot cheer in Friday’s main draw, the hunt is on for a EuroMillions Plus winner from Cork. The Bere Island resident correctly matched all five numbers in the draw on Tuesday 19th September to land a reward worth €500,000. The search isn’t expected to take long as the island, located off the southeast coast of Co Cork, is home to just 180 people. “It’s great and it’s a big thing to support the local post office,” shop owner Mary Murphy told reporters. “We don’t know who the winner is yet but marvellous news.”
