Hunt Begins for Galway’s €1 Million EuroMillions Winner

The search is on for a lucky EuroMillions player from Co Galway who became a millionaire on Friday 6th July. The prize was given away in a special edition of the Ireland Only Raffle, and employees of the store which sold the winning ticket have been left ‘absolutely buzzing’ about the news.
The Ireland Only Raffle guaranteed that one player would receive an additional €1 million in Friday night’s draw, and the winning code was revealed to be I-DWT-10900. The all-important ticket was sold at Spar in the Ballybrit Technology Park in Parkmore, and the winner now has 90 days from the date of the draw to come forward and claim their prize.
John Geraghty, manager of the Spar store, said: “When your phone rings late on a Friday night, you never know what to expect so this is fantastic news. It’s our first lottery win and the staff in the store are absolutely buzzing.”
Speculating on the identity of the ticket holder, Geraghty suggested that there was a good chance it was a group of local workers. He said: “We are situated in the heart of a busy technology park and the majority of our lottery play comes from the local businesses, particularly with syndicates, so it would be great to see a big crowd of colleagues sharing the €1 million prize.”
The Ireland Only Raffle is a supplementary game which takes place alongside EuroMillions every Tuesday and Friday. Everyone who buys a EuroMillions ticket in Ireland is automatically entered into the game and receives a random code consisting of four letters and five numbers. Ten winning codes are selected in each draw and players with matching tickets receive €5,000, but occasionally special draws are held to guarantee that one of the winners will be paid an additional €1 million.
Lightning Strikes Twice For Kilkenny Woman
Big winners in Ireland can remain anonymous or go public, and one very fortunate woman from Thomasville in Co Kilkenny has this week decided to share her success story after claiming a €50,000 for the second time in her life. Susan Grace, 40, was able to make a ‘lot of improvements’ to her life after winning big on the TV game show Winning Streak in 2007, and has now repeated the trick on a National Lottery Bingo Times 10 scratchcard.
“I feel like the luckiest woman in Ireland,” said Susan, who admitted to ‘screaming the house down’ when she realised she had won. “€50,000 is an incredible amount of money, and to win this amount a second time is like a dream. I have a wonderful family behind me so I will be sharing this win with my mother and my brothers and sisters.”
Susan plans to help her family renovate their home and upgrade their kitchen, while she also wants to use some of the money to repair and restore her father’s grave. Her mother Kathleen said she was ‘incredibly proud’ of her daughter and added: “Susan is truly one in a million and this win couldn’t have happened to a more caring or generous person.”
