€28 Million

The announcement came from Swisslos, the lottery operator in the German-speaking parts of Switzerland. The other national lotteries, including Ireland’s, typically wait until much closer to the scheduled date to publicise these big events.

Superdraws only take place a few times a year, marking an opportunity to play for a nine-figure jackpot even if there is a winner in the preceding draw. If the top prize is much lower, it will still be bumped up to €130 million.

If the jackpot is already higher than €130 million due to a series of rollovers, it will be allowed to keep climbing. This scenario occurred in June when a Superdraw was scrapped so that a huge jackpot could run its course, eventually ending in a €175 million win for a single player from Belgium.

    Is It Ireland’s Time?

Superdraws, also known as Megadraws, always create lots of winners across Europe, with lottery fans rushing to take part in every participating country and many rewarded with great prizes. More than 58,000 Irish ticket holders picked up prizes in the most recent Superdraw on 25th September, although the jackpot went to the UK.

There has not been an Irish jackpot winner since December 2025, when family members from Co Cavan landed €17 million just before Christmas. It was the 21st time that the jackpot has been won in Ireland.

Ireland has also been waiting a long time for Superdraw success. Nobody from the country has ever won on the night of a Megadraw, although there have been a couple of occasions when Irish ticket holders have snapped up huge jackpots that were set up by Superdraws, including a €175 million payout that went to a family from Dublin in February 2019.

Whether the upcoming Superdraw jackpot will ultimately land in Ireland or elsewhere remains to be seen, but it promises to be an exciting event and there are 12 other ways to win prizes even if you miss out on the big one. Keep up to date with all the latest results in the build-up to the Superdraw, and don’t forget to take part for your chance to win.
