EuroMillions Reaches €240 Million Jackpot Cap
Last Updated: Wednesday 6th December 2023, 13:27 pm
It’s a magical December for EuroMillions players across all nine participating countries as the biggest jackpot ever is up for grabs in the next draw on 8th December. After having rolled over twice already, the grand prize is now estimated to be worth €240 million.
The Mega Jackpot initially had a starting amount of €200 million on 1st December. No one managed to match all seven winning numbers, therefore the jackpot rolled over to an amazing €218 million (about £187 million) which was on offer in the Tuesday 5th December draw. But last night didn’t prove to be any luckier as the jackpot rolled over again, reaching €240 million (approximately £201 million).
The winning numbers in last night’s draw were 4, 6, 20, 24, 25, with Lucky Stars 5 and 9. There were more than 3 million winners in total and you might be one of them, so make sure you check the latest draw breakdown to find out how much you won. Out of those winners, eight of them were the closest to win the jackpot as they matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star. The second-tier prize worth €146,494 (£100,913) went to eight ticket holders from five of the participating countries.
In Ireland, there were approximately 64,557 winners who shared a prize fund amount of €322,078 across 10 prize categories. The EuroMillions Plus winning numbers were 6, 13, 28, 36 and 38.
An Incoming Jackpot Cap
With the new estimated amount of €240 million, the EuroMillions jackpot has now become the biggest grand prize ever on offer. Previously, the first place was occupied by the €230 million jackpot won by an anonymous UK player on Tuesday 19th July 2022.
No matter how Friday’s draw turns out, the jackpot cap will be increased from €240 million to €250 million.

If one lucky player manages to match all seven winning numbers, they will be able to upgrade their Christmas presents as they’ll take home €240 million. The jackpot would reset to its base amount of €17 million.

In case nobody wins again, the grand prize will not grow any higher than €240 million. If ticket sales would bring extra money, it will be instead used to top up the second-prize tier amount. The grand prize can stay at its cap for up to four draws before a Must Be Won draw is being held. What happens then? The jackpot will roll down and it will be shared among the players in the prize tier below.
