Dublin has won more Irish National Lottery prizes of €1 million or more than any other region in the past 27 years, according to recently released statistics.
The capital is home to an enormous number of millionaires — at least that’s what stats from the Irish National Lottery seem to suggest. In the past 27 years, more Lotto, EuroMillions, Daily Million and Millionaire Raffle prizes of between €1 million €15 million have been won by players in Dublin than in any other part of the country.
The official statistics show that a total of 810 millionaires have been made across Ireland so far, with Dublin home to a whopping 297 of them. The average big win in the capital city amounted to just shy of €3.2 million.
The five regions that have scooped the most multimillion-euro Irish Lottery prizes are as follows:
Region | Total Payouts | Average Payout |
---|---|---|
Dublin | 297 | €3,170,000 |
South (Cork, Kerry, Tipperary) | 127 | €2,800,000 |
West (Galway, Mayo) | 69 | €3,250,000 |
North-East (Meath, Louth) | 55 | €2,500,000 |
South-East (Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford) | 54 | €4,700,000 |
These statistics were released to help promote the Irish National Lottery’s upcoming Christmas Millionaire Raffle, which guarantees one €1 million winner along with 3,175 smaller cash prizes and will be held on New Year’s Eve. Tickets are available now, costing €20 each, and will be on sale until 10pm on 31 December. Good luck!
