A man from Co Cork whose family won over €450,000 on EuroMillions has admitted the lucky break could not have come at a better time as money had been so tight that he had been worried about getting through the next few weeks. The family purchased their €9 Quick Pick ticket for the draw on Friday 15th January from Al’s Restaurant, Market Green in Middleton, and came forward quickly to collect their winnings after discovering that they had matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star.
As the winners celebrated at National Lottery headquarters in Dublin, the husband revealed that he had not been able to sleep properly for the past few days and was still in shock. However, he was also able to look forward to a brighter future without any of the financial fears that he had recently been struggling with.
“I was down to my last €30 on Thursday night and was terribly worried about how we were going to get through the next couple of weeks,” the man, whose family remained anonymous, said in the Irish Examiner. “This really couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s life changing.”
As the lucky family plan ahead for a holiday to Spain and set their sights on a new home, players across the continent will be hoping to replicate their success in the next EuroMillions draw on Friday. The jackpot has reached a phenomenal €104 million following a run of nine rollovers, and there are great prizes to be won in 12 other tiers. Check out the EuroMillions Results page for more details about recent draws.
Irish lottery fans don’t have to wait until Friday night for the opportunity to snap up fantastic rewards either, as tonight’s Irish Lotto draw has a €12 million jackpot on offer. The family from Cork had their dreams come true just when they needed it the most, so why couldn’t the same happen to you? Best of luck.
