Co Cork Co-Workers Collect €369,210 EuroMillions Prize

There were wild celebrations at National Lottery headquarters in Dublin as a group of 20 co-workers from Co Cork collected a €369,210 EuroMillions prize. The syndicate, whose ages range from 24 to 60, all work for wholesale retailer Barry Group in the town of Mallow and are each looking forward to spending a €18,460 share.
The score of syndicate members, who purchased their winning Quick Pick entry from Foley’s Foodstore on Cork Road, correctly matched five main numbers and one Lucky Star in the draw on Tuesday 11th July to land the six-figure sum. It didn’t take long for news of the win to spread, with the group quickly making plans to pay lottery officials in the nation’s capital a visit.
The syndicate’s leader, Emma Quaid, was presented with the customary oversized cheque before turning her attention to the eager journalists who waiting to receive the winning group’s reaction: “With all the excitement I don’t think there was too much work done in the office last Wednesday,” she said. “Quite a few of the group have young families so I know that there is a lot of talk about holidays at the moment. Some of the other winners want to upgrade their cars.”
The latter is precisely the route 24-year-old Eoin May has opted to take: “I’ve thought about it a small bit, I’ll probably buy a car I’d say.” Naturally, the youngster had already given a lot of thought to which vehicle he would be opting for: “I’m thinking an Audi, I’m going to try drive around and be a bit flash with the cash,” he beamed. “An Audi A4 or A6 I’d say.”
The group were even joined by Barry Group owner Jim Barry. His presence and cooperation during the syndicate’s win was highlighted by Emma Quaid: “He has been very supportive and gave us all a half day to travel here.” Mr Barry reciprocated the positive feeling by adding: “They are a terrific bunch of people and I could not be happier for them. I wish them all the luck with the win and hope it brings them lots of joy and pleasure.”
