Lottery players all across Europe are only just recovering from the record €190 million jackpot that was given away on 8th October, but Irish ticket holders continued the good feeling with some more big wins in Lotto Plus and EuroMillions Plus over the weekend.
Lotto Plus 2 and EuroMillions Plus Wins
Less than one week on from the record-breaking EuroMillions draw, luck was in again for some Irish players. It was a quiet night in the main draw, with no one in Ireland matching five or more numbers, but it was a different story in EuroMillions Plus, as one player hit the €500,000 jackpot.
The winning EuroMillions Plus numbers for Friday 11th October were 5, 20, 29, 35, and 44 and one ticket holder matched them all to make it two draws in a row that the top prize has been won.
The National Lottery revealed soon after the draw that the winning ticket was sold in Easons in Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Co Cork. The store’s manager, Brendan McCarthy, said: “This is the second time in two years we’ve sold a National Lottery winning ticket worth €500,000. We have no idea who the winner could be as Mahon Point Shopping Centre is the largest in Cork. We hope it brings a lot of happiness to the winner, whoever he or she may be.”
A National Lottery spokesperson also celebrated the luck that Irish players have had in 2019, pointing to the Naul family syndicate who won €175 million in February and highlighting that this latest EuroMillions Plus win is the 23rd of the year.
The luck hasn’t just been coming in EuroMillions, however. Saturday’s Lotto draw went by without a winner but there was one ticket that won the top prize in Lotto Plus 2. That one lucky player wins €250,000 and joins another ticket holder who matched five numbers plus the Bonus to win just under that amount in the main draw.
No one could match the winning Lotto numbers 1, 23, 27, 33, 42, 44, and Bonus 31, so the jackpot rolls over for the sixth time to stand at an estimated €4.5 million for the next draw on Wednesday 16th October. The EuroMillions jackpot, meanwhile, has rolled over once since the €190 million win; it is an estimated €25 million for Tuesday’s draw.
