Irish Lotto Player Discovers Winning Ticket Whilst Cleaning Car

An Irish Lotto player was thankful she decided to clean her car out last Sunday as she discovered she was due a €117,023 prize from the draw on Saturday 16th July. The Dublin woman, who wished to remain anonymous, picked up her cheque from Irish National Lottery headquarters in the city yesterday and admitted she could easily have missed out on the award for matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball.
“I regularly purchase my Quick Pick tickets, but I very rarely check them until I hear about a local winner,” she said as she sipped champagne in the lottery’s Winners’ Room, “I have bundles of out-of-date tickets in my house and in my car and sometimes we laugh that I’ve probably already won the Lotto jackpot 10 times but I never found out about it!”. However, the lucky player recalled that, whilst removing rubbish from her vehicle on the day after the draw, she noticed the winning ticket nestled between the front seats and decided she would take it to a shop to scan it.
"When I went into the shop to scan my ticket, the shop keeper and I were absolutely dumbstruck,” she laughed, “I don’t know which of us got the biggest shock!" The winning entry was a Quick Pick and was purchased at the White House Shop in Baldoyle, to the north east of the capital. The winner has now resolved to check every ticket she buys and has urged others to do so as well as, even if your Irish Lotto lines aren’t jackpot winners, there are seven further prize tiers in which you can win in every draw. The Irish Lotto Checker makes it easy to see if you are a winner, just input your numbers and it will do the work for you!

The latest big winners story follows two fortuitous lottery ticket discoveries in May, when a Wicklow couple had to fish a €250,000 Lotto Plus 2 jackpot-winning slip from their kitchen bin and a Dublin man uncovered a EuroMillions Plus entry worth €500,000 when he was ordered by his wife to tidy up their bedroom.
