EuroMillions Winner Claims €381,863 Prize with Hours to Spare

Last Updated: Friday 30th July 2021, 16:04 pm

A Cork EuroMillions winner finally staked a claim for their €381,863 prize with just hours to go before it expired. The deadline to collect was 5:30pm on Thursday 4th August, 90 days after the ticket holder matched all five main numbers and one of the Lucky Stars in the draw on Friday 6th May on a ticket bought at Tesco in the Market Green Shopping Centre in Midleton, Co Cork.

A spokesperson for the Irish Lottery proclaimed, “as a result of the National Lottery media awareness campaign, we’re delighted that a ticket holder has come forward!” after the lucky player slipped in under the wire to pick up their six-figure prize. There have been no details of the winner’s identity revealed yet, and they will now have to make a decision over whether to go public or stay private.

The lucky last minute dash came a week after a Galway EuroMillions player missed out on a €191,461 payday. Their prize expired at the end of the working day on Thursday 28th July after no claim was made, meaning that the amount was returned to the Irish Lottery.

Lottery players are advised to sign the back of physical tickets and keep them in a safe and memorable place, checking them soon after the draw to see if they are due a prize. Irish.National-Lottery.com provides ticket checkers for Irish Lotto, EuroMillions and Daily Million, making it easy to see if you have made any matches.
