Friday’s EuroMillions Superdraw jackpot of €100 million was won by a UK player, with a rural Donegal ticket holder banking €500,000 after becoming the 14th EuroMillions Plus winner of 2017.
The winning numbers in the main game were 17, 35, 39, 47 and 50 with Lucky Stars 6 and 8, and the successful punter became the third player from their nation to pocket the top prize this year. The largest Irish prize on Friday 30th June was €4,190 for the ticket holder who matched four main numbers and both Lucky Stars and you can find the full prize breakdown at the EuroMillions Results page.
However, a player who entered the draw in Ramelton near Letterkenny has reason to celebrate after matching 16, 17, 43, 47 and 49 in the supplementary EuroMillions Plus game. They put down their stake at Whoriskey’s EuroSpar in the town, which boasts a population of a little over 1,000 people, but owner John Whoriskey admitted he didn’t know whether they were local or a tourist: “The majority of our customers are local and there are also a lot of holiday homes in the area so who knows who it is?” quoted the Irish Sun, “this is our first big Lottery win so we’d encourage everybody who bought a ticket with us yesterday to check their tickets straight away.”
EuroMillions Plus is played by opting your main EuroMillions numbers into a second draw for an additional €1. It is exclusive to Irish ticket holders, who have hit a rich vein of form in 2017, with the fixed jackpot of €500,000 now having been scooped 14 times since the turn of the year. The EuroMillions Plus page explains more about this supplementary way to win.
