Winning Irish Lotto Syndicate Enjoy Champagne Moment

The syndicate from Co Cork who scooped €3.8 million in the Irish Lotto draw on Saturday 14th November have finally been able to toast their success after coming forward to be presented with their cheque at National Lottery headquarters, although the celebrations did not go quite according to plan for one member of the group.
As the syndicate gathered for a feature on Ireland’s RTE News, television cameras captured live the moment when Eilish Hayes opened a bottle of champagne with a little too much enthusiasm and ended up spraying bubbly all over her face. She will at least be able to console herself with over €380,000 after sharing the top prize with her nine colleagues from Kerry Foods’ Cheestrings division in Charleville.
The lucky players took just one day off to celebrate before returning to work and nobody has any plans to quit the day job, but they all intend to enjoy the money in different ways. Eugene O’Sullivan, 36, said in the Irish Daily Star: “I’m big into the hurling and the horse racing so I’d be thinking of buying a racehorse with the cash,” before revealing that he may name the horse The Chosen Few after the success of the syndicate.
The group has ten children and one grandchild between them and Frank Finn, from Limerick, is one of the players looking forward to providing a brighter future for his family. He said: “It just makes life a small bit easier. Well, it will be fitted wardrobes first so after that then, God is good, and we’ll sort out the mortgage and get the children through college.”
The Irish Lotto jackpot has not been won since the Co Cork syndicate matched all six main numbers, meaning there will be an estimated top prize of €3 million up for grabs in tonight’s draw following two rollovers. Check out the Irish Lotto Results section to see recent winning numbers and find out if you may be due a prize.
You can choose your numbers for this evening’s draw online or by visiting an authorised retailer anywhere in Ireland. The group from Cork had been playing for more than 12 years before winning, so it shows that you never know when you might strike it lucky, but just make sure to be careful when it comes to your big champagne moment. Good luck!
