Two lucky players shared the second-largest Irish Lotto jackpot of the year on Saturday night as they matched all six main numbers to pocket €6.1 million each. The winning tickets were sold in the Topaz Service Station on Dublin Road, Athlone and at Mickey Joe’s Country Store in Umlagh, Carrigart, Co. Donegal.
A gigantic €12.3 million had been up for grabs following a run of 18 rollovers, and the winning numbers were 3, 7, 17, 21, 22 and 28. The Bonus Ball was 2. You can find a full breakdown of the prizes at the Irish Lotto Results page, following a draw which produced over 79,000 winning tickets in total.
Both of the jackpot-winning tickets were Quick Pick entries, and the lucky players now have 90 days to come forward and claim their wonderful prizes. Anyone who bought a ticket in either of the winning locations has been urged to check their numbers, while there is also a sense of excitement at both of the stores.
Paula Keegan, store manager of the Topaz Service Station in Athlone, said: “This is the first time we have sold such a large winning ticket. This is a busy shop with lots of passing trade so while we would love if the winner was a local, it is a possibility that the ticket was purchased by someone passing through.”
On a fantastic weekend for lottery players, one fortunate EuroMillions ticket holder also became a millionaire thanks to the Ireland Only Raffle. The game guarantees that there will be ten winners of €5,000 in each draw, but Friday’s special edition provided one of the lucky ten players with an extra €1 million. The winning code was I-BXK-32751, and the ticket was sold at the Maxol service station in Naas, Co Kildare.
