Sligo’s Irish Lotto Jackpot Winner ‘Still Discussing Claim’

Sligo’s Irish Lotto Jackpot Winner ‘Still Discussing Claim’

Last Updated: Wednesday 13th April 2016, 08:37 am

The player from Sligo who claims to have scooped the massive €8.2 million jackpot on Saturday 5th March is still in discussions with National Lottery officials, as the owner of the shop who sold the winning ticket waits for the ‘mystery’ to be solved.

It has been over a month since a single participant matched the winning line of 2, 8, 16, 24, 33 and 42 with a ticket bought at Matt Lyons’ store in Sligo town. It appeared as though the matter was close to being resolved when somebody came forward last week to say they were the winner, but there has been no comment since a lottery spokesman insisted they were ‘continuing to engage with the ticket holder’ over the weekend.

Lyons is anxious to find out the identity of the winner, saying in the Irish Independent: “It’s a bit of a strange one all right. There has been something of a mystery about the winner over the past month or so, but as a retailer we aren’t given any information unless the winner goes public.” Lyons believes there is a chance the winner may not be from the Sligo area, as he recalls a lot of hen parties and visitors being in town that weekend.

Irish lottery players have 90 days from the date of a draw to claim prizes, so there is still plenty of time for the Sligo jackpot winner to get their issues sorted. More players will hope to have the opportunity to claim big prizes in tonight’s game, when the jackpot stands at an impressive €6 million. Entries can either be bought online or from authorised retailers, and don’t forget to check your tickets as soon as possible to avoid missing out on a great prize. Good luck!
