Scottish Man Scoops £1 Million Irish Lotto Win Thanks to Cabbie

Scottish Man Scoops £1 Million Irish Lotto Win Thanks to Cabbie

A lucky punter from Scotland scooped over £1 million thanks to a bet he had placed on the Irish Lotto. The winner had the good fortune to be chatting to a well informed taxi driver while taking a ride past the same Ladbrokes shop where he had placed the bet.

The cabbie told the man, who is in his 60s,  that the high street bookmakers were on the lookout for an Irish Lotto player who had secured a big win: “I was travelling along the Tollcross Road and the cabbie said a lucky punter won a million in that Ladbrokes,” the man revealed to the Daily Record. “I told him I played the Irish Lotto in that shop but hadn’t checked my ticket. I got home, checked the numbers on the internet and turned to jelly.”

The man, from Glasgow’s east end, won £1,018,020 after placing a £12 bet in Ladbrokes on Westmuir Street in Parkhead on Monday 11th January. It seems that the money will go towards a Caribbean cruise, a holiday to Australia and additional Irish Lotto betting: “I’ll not stop playing either.” the man said. “You need to speculate to accumulate.”

By winning over £1 million, the lucky Irish Lotto fan became Scotland’s third millionaire within the space of a week. David and Carol Martin, from Hawick, started the money ball rolling by winning half of the £66 million National Lottery jackpot before a prosperous punter from Perth pocketed £2.2 million from Paddy Power whilst playing the Genie Jackpots game, setting a record for the bookmaker’s biggest-ever winner.
