New Millionaire in Meath as Raffle Creates 8,500 Winners

The Millionaire Raffle on New Year’s Eve left one lucky player with a ticket worth €1 million, while thousands of others had cause to celebrate. The wait is now on for the big winner, from Co Meath, to come forward and claim their seven-figure prize.
Held every year on 31st December, the Christmas Millionaire Raffle guarantees that somebody in Ireland will become a millionaire, while it also gives away a raft of other prizes between €500 and €100,000. In total, the 2024 edition created 8,500 winners.

It was quickly announced that the ticket was sold in Co Meath, and the winning store was later revealed to be Tierney’s ‘Nearby’ on Trimgate Street, Navan.
Shop owner Joe Tierney said: “I was thrilled to get the call that our shop had sold this year’s winning Millionaire Raffle ticket. Our shop is the oldest family newsagent in Ireland, across three generations. This year, we’ll be celebrating our 130th anniversary, so this win is an extra special celebration for us.”
“We’ve had a few lottery wins over the years, but nothing of this magnitude - this is by far the largest. Receiving such good news on the first day of the year is wonderful, and the thought that everyone who bought a ticket is a potential winner is incredibly exciting. We’re looking forward to the buzz in the shop over the next while."
