Lotto Plus Raffle Winners To Share €1 Million on Saturday 11th May
Last Updated: Tuesday 7th July 2020, 12:47 pm
A special edition of the Lotto Plus Raffle will take place on Saturday 11th May, rewarding all winners with a share of €1 million. Find out how it works, how to enter and what sort of prize you might receive if you win.
How The Raffle Works
To take part in the Lotto Plus Raffle, you just need to add the Lotto Plus option to your playslip when you buy an Irish Lotto ticket. You have to pay a small additional fee, but you will then be automatically entered into all the Lotto Plus draws.
Your main numbers are used for Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2, but you will also be given a four-digit Lotto Plus Raffle code for each line you play. One code is selected at random on the night of the draw, and you have to match it exactly in order to win.
Each winner is paid €500 in a standard draw, but as Saturday’s draw is a special event, an additional €1 million will be added to the prize pot. You do not have to do anything extra to take part - just buy an Irish Lotto ticket and add Lotto Plus. The only difference is that you will receive far more than €500.
How Much Could You Win?
The extra €1 million will be split between everyone who has a matching ticket. There is no way of knowing exactly what the payout will be worth until the draw has been held, but there are usually between 80 and 120 winners. Each winner can therefore expect to be paid between €8,000 and €12,500, on top of the fixed €500 prize.
When a similar draw took place on 16th March to celebrate the weekend of St Patrick’s Day, 112 lucky players each took home €9,429. The odds of winning are fixed at 1 in 10,000 for every individual code, and as the minimum play is two lines, your chances are effectively 1 in 5,000. The more lines you enter, the better your odds.
It can be easy to overlook your Lotto Plus Raffle code when you check your numbers, as many players are focused on the main draw and the chance to win the multimillion-euro jackpot. You should look at any entries closely before disposing of them, and make sure you come forward within 90 days of the draw taking place.
Making A Difference
The special Lotto Plus Raffle has been organised as a way of saying thanks to players for helping to raise so much money for good causes. Around €0.30 of every €1 spent on Irish National Lottery tickets goes towards worthy community projects, generating over €5 billion in total since 1986.
This money is distributed to several different areas - Youth, Sports, Recreation, Amenities, Health, Welfare, Arts, Culture, National Heritage and the Irish Language.
Every time you play you are therefore making a big difference, whilst giving yourself a chance to win fantastic prizes. The Irish Lotto jackpot is currently up to €5 million, while EuroMillions is worth €17 million.
