Kildare Woman Finds Winning EuroMillions Plus Ticket in Her Handbag

A woman from Kildare is celebrating a €500,000 EuroMillions Plus win after discovering a winning ticket in her handbag. The lucky lady, who has opted to remain anonymous, found the playslip at the bottom of her bag three weeks after the draw had taken place and claims that checking her entry slipped her mind.
The lucky woman purchased her ticket from Dunnes Stores in the town of Newbridge shortly before the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday 26th September. However, it wasn’t until her husband mentioned there had been a winner in the Kildare area that she thought about examining her entry.
"I normally check my tickets the day after the draw in the local shop, but on this occasion it slipped my mind,” she said. "It wasn’t until a few more days later again, when I was buying my next lottery ticket, that it dawned on me to scan the old one.”
Pure Ecstasy
Pulling the ticket from her bag, the woman handed it to the shop assistant, only to find herself suddenly struck by a feeling of pure ecstasy: "I froze when the shop assistant told me it was a winner and to contact the National Lottery,” she explained.
The woman, accompanied by her husband, hot footed it to National Lottery headquarters to collect their prize. "It’s an amazing feeling to have this cheque in front of us,” she exclaimed.
“It only hits home when you are looking at all the zeros in front of you!"
The delighted couple now plan to use their newfound wealth to ensure their children have to best start in life, however, they have no intentions of informing their offspring about the win at this moment in time.
Check Your Tickets
The pair were greeted by a National Lottery spokesperson, who expressed the company’s delight at crowning yet another big lottery winner. However, they did remind all players to check their tickets as soon as possible: "We are delighted for this couple from Kildare - but if the winner had not remembered to check the ticket it may still be in the bottom of her handbag and she and her husband would be blissfully unaware of their good fortune!”
