The two members of a syndicate who scooped the Irish Lotto jackpot last Saturday night are looking forward to treating their friends and family and making lots of charitable donations. The pair, who wish to remain anonymous, picked up a cheque for €2.5 million from National Lottery headquarters in Dublin after winning with a €4 Quick Pick ticket purchased in An Post in Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford.
The duo were spending a couple of days in the area when they decided to play and are determined to use the money to help others, as well as enjoying themselves. “We are over the moon. Cannot believe our luck!” they said in the Irish Mirror. We have lots of friends and family and we are looking forward to making their lives a whole lot easier. Once that is done, we might even spend a bit on ourselves.”
A mobile home in Rosslare is one idea on the pair’s shopping list, while they also plan to travel to France and Germany. One of the winning players also spoke about the importance of religion in their life, adding: “I’ve always been a great believer in the Sacred Heart and my faith has come through for me today. We’re going to make plenty of private donations to charities from this win.”
It has been a good start to the month for Irish Lotto players, after a €6.3 million jackpot was also won on Saturday 1st August by Ballinrobe carpenter Gerard Murphy, who landed the massive windfall after buying a ticket from his brother-in-law’s store. If you fancy becoming the latest big winner in tonight’s Irish Lotto draw, which is offering a top prize of €2 million, you will need to get hold of a ticket to be in with a chance and you can either bet online or visit an authorised retailer in Ireland. Best of luck!
