Irish Lotto Winners Claim €7.3 Million Jackpot and Plan to Build Indoor Slide

A South Dublin couple have come forward as the winners of the Irish Lotto jackpot offered in the draw on Saturday 19th September, netting an incredible €7.3 million after purchasing the winning ticket at a Supervalu store in Dun Laoghaire. They matched the six main numbers of 7, 26, 34, 39, 41 and 42. The Bonus Ball was 31.
The couple, who are in their 40s and have young children, visited the National Lottery offices in Dublin last week to claim their winnings. The husband explained that they usually don’t check the multi-draw Quick Pick tickets they purchase until all the draws are finished, but was inspired to go have a look when he heard on the radio that someone in the area had won the jackpot.
“I put it [the ticket] into a ticket check in a shop in Killiney and the message told me to contact National Lottery offices,” he said in the Irish Mirror. “I thought, ‘that’s strange’ so when I went back to the office, I put in the numbers on the web checker and all these fireworks went off.” After going home and having his wife check the ticket as well, the family celebrated their win with a restaurant visit, where they indulged in several desserts.
The pair plan to engage in philanthropic work with their newfound wealth, pledging to look after their nearest and dearest while supporting an animal charity and “being secret Good Samaritans” according to The Herald.
Of course, it’s not all serious business for the family. Some splurges planned by the lucky couple include a pinball machine, a popcorn maker, a home cinema, a cruise in Jamaica and a trip to Disney World in Florida. They also intend to visit Venezuela to see the famous Catatumbo lightning storms.
