Irish Lotto Ticket Holder Wins €6.4 Million Jackpot

One lucky ticket holder is waking up €6.4 million richer this morning after winning Wednesday evening’s Irish Lotto jackpot. The winning player, who is yet to make contact with National Lottery officials, ended a run of nine consecutive rollovers and will now have 90 days to collect their sizeable seven-figure sum.
Wednesday’s Irish Lotto numbers were 7, 16, 18, 20, 24 and 37, with 13 appearing as the Bonus Ball. This is the fifth time this year that the jackpot has been won and the first time the top prize has been landed since a ticket holder scooped a €2 million on Wednesday 31st May.
The successful ticket holder purchased their winning entry from Argue's Londis Service Station, Cootehill in Co Cavan. The forecourt's owner, Jim Argue, was very excited by the news, but has no clue as to who the winner could be: "We're a forecourt service station and we get a lot of passing trade so we don't know if it was sold to someone locally or someone passing but best wishes to whoever won it."
Elsewhere, there were no winners of the Match 5+1 prize, but plenty of players were able to match five main numbers to win €2,440. Lady Luck embraced an additional 36,530 ticket holders, each of whom benefited from prizes ranging from a €3 scratch card for matching two numbers and the Bonus Ball to €109 for correctly predicting four main numbers and the Bonus Ball. This latest top prize win came just hours after it was revealed that the winner of a €500,000 Lotto Plus 1 jackpot had come forward. James Carroll, a Defence Forces paramedic from Kildare, celebrated his win at National Lottery Headquarters in Dublin where he informed reporters that he has been an avid lottery lover ever since the game first began in 1988.
