The members of an Irish Lotto syndicate which won €6.4 million in the draw on Wednesday 5th July have insisted they will not let their new-found wealth change their lives too much. They are delighted to have become millionaires and look forward to helping out friends and family, but have no intention of quitting their jobs.
The group of three bought a ticket at Argue’s Londis Store in the Co. Cavan town of Cootehill, three days before the draw took place. They quickly became aware of their success as excitement spread throughout the area, but decided not to come forward immediately.
One of the winners said: “The last five weeks have been surreal. It has been like a dream. There has been huge speculation in the North East and Cavan about who won this life-changing amount, so we decided to keep our heads down and wait a few weeks before making our claim.”
Presented with their cheque at Irish National Lottery headquarters, the lucky players revealed they did not have any major plans yet. A spokesperson for the group said: “We are absolutely delighted with this win. It will make life a lot easier for all of us and we will be able to help out family and friends as well. This is a huge amount of money, but we are all determined that it won’t change our lives dramatically.”
The Irish Lotto jackpot has not been won since the syndicate from the North East matched all six main numbers, and last night’s rollover has pushed the top prize up to €8.5 million ahead of Saturday’s draw. You can bet online now or go to any authorised retailer in Ireland. Good luck!
