Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 15:17 pm
The Irish Lotto jackpot rolled over on Wednesday 27th January, but there were four big winners in the second prize tier and over 46,000 players pocketed prizes in total. The jackpot-winning ticket from the previous draw has also been claimed, after a lucky family from Co Mayo came forward to pick up their cheque for €13.7 million.
The numbers drawn on Wednesday were 6, 7, 11, 17, 23 and 33 with Bonus Ball 21. While nobody quite managed to scoop the €2 million top prize, four participants matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to land €12,270 each. The other rewards given away on the night spread from a €3 scratchcard for matching two main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to €382 for matching five main numbers.
The supplementary games also produced thousands of winners, including four ticket holders in Irish Lotto Plus 2 who matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to earn €2,500 each. The winning Lotto Plus Raffle number was 2746, and there were 77 players with matching entries who each grabbed €300. The jackpot may not have been won last night, but fans of the game looking forward to the next draw can take inspiration from the family who snagged €13.7 million - the fourth-largest Irish Lotto prize ever won - on Saturday 23rd January. They attended National Lottery offices in Dublin on Wednesday after buying their ticket from Careys in Belmullet, and both the husband and wife revealed they had no plans to quit work.
The lucky winners are looking forward to providing financial security for their nearest and dearest, as well as spending some of their money on home improvements and possibly a trip to Euro 2016 in France this summer for the football fan husband. He also said: “Top of the list for us as a family is a skiing holiday, as we’ve never been. Hopefully, we’ll be on the slopes and doing the apres-ski thing by this time next month.”
The family also revealed that they had decided to play a Quick Pick rather than their usual numbers just because it was such a big jackpot, so it could be a tactic worth trying out for anyone eagerly anticipating Saturday night’s draw, when the top prize will be €2.5 million.
