Last Updated: Monday 23rd May 2016, 10:00 am
One Irish Lotto participant scooped an incredible jackpot of €5.5 million in the draw on Saturday 21st May. The lucky player brought an end to a run of seven rollovers stretching back to Saturday 23rd April and generated plenty of excitement at the Dublin store where the ticket was sold.
The numbers drawn were 8, 15, 17, 22, 34 and 38 with Bonus Ball 10, and it has been confirmed that the winning ticket was purchased at the Dublin 4 Spar shop on Upper Baggot Street. Nobody has yet come forward to claim the money, but staff members admit the news has really stirred up the locals.
Store worker Kieron Connolly was quoted in the Irish Independent as saying: “People have been coming into the shop and asking about the win, but it’s still not known who won. There’s been a bit of a buzz around the place. It has certainly put a bit of excitement into the day. We have a lot of regular customers who buy Lotto tickets - and we’re hoping it’s one of them.”
As well as the jackpot winner, over 44,000 other players picked up prizes on Saturday, including two ticket holders who matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to land €60,093 each. The other winners snapped up prizes ranging from a €3 scratchcard for matching two main numbers and the Bonus Ball to €1,381 for matching five main numbers. The Irish Lotto jackpot has now been given away five times since the start of the year, while thousands of other players have had their lives transformed by big wins. As the latest jackpot winner considers whether to reveal their identity when they come forward and how they might enjoy their new wealth, Wednesday’s game will provide another opportunity to grab a fortune. The top prize will be worth €2 million and tickets can either be bought online or from authorised retailers such as the Spar shop in Dublin. Best of luck!
