One lucky player scooped the Irish Lotto jackpot on Saturday 1st August as they matched all six of the main numbers drawn to pocket a magnificent €6.3 million. The result ended a run of nine straight rollovers since a lady won €2 million with a ticket bought in Adare, Co. Limerick.
The winning entry for Saturday’s draw was sold in Murphy’s Newsagents on Main Street in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo, and the participant - reportedly the brother-in-law of shop owner Martin Murphy - was rewarded with a massive windfall when their numbers came up on the night. The numbers were 3, 7, 11, 33, 37 and 42 with Bonus Ball 39. As well as the jackpot winner, there were also three players who matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to pick up €25,000 each.
Another 58 ticket holders earned €1,205 each after matching five main numbers, while there were over 45,000 other prize winners who bagged cash amounts ranging from €5 for matching three main numbers to €136 for matching four main numbers and the Bonus Ball. The Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 games both produced thousands more winners, including players in the Match 5 + Bonus tier in both draws.
