Irish Lotto Family Bags Big Win in Time For Christmas

A family from Cork is looking forward to a magical Christmas, and beyond, after coming forward to claim a big Irish Lotto win. The lucky father did not realise his good fortune initially, as he had left the ticket in his wallet without checking it, but later discovered that he had won €101,947.
The family bought the ticket at the Gala Store in Innishannon ahead of the draw on Wednesday 30th November, and matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to land the six-figure prize. They have decided to remain anonymous, but did reveal when they picked up their cheque just how long it took for the news to sink in.
“I had the ticket in my wallet for nearly a week before we checked it,” said the winning husband in The Corkman. “When I had it checked in the shop, I was still unsure of how much we had won. We called the lottery and I thought I might have won just over a thousand euro...We just could not believe it when we were told we had won over €100,000.”
The delighted family added that it was the perfect time to win the money just ahead of Christmas. “We're going to have an amazing Christmas and for once, not worry about the money!” said the mother. “After that, all of the money will be set aside for the kids for their college expenses over the next couple of years.”
