No one managed to match all six main numbers in the Irish Lotto draw on Wednesday 5th August, but there was a single winner of the €25,000 prize for matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball. More than 24,000 ticket holders won prizes on the night, with other awards ranging from €5 for matching three main numbers up to €2,594 for matching five balls.
The winning numbers were 8, 9, 17, 33, 36 and 40 with Bonus Ball 15 and there are full prize breakdowns for the main draw, as well as the Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 games, at the Lottery Results section.
Saturday’s Irish Lotto jackpot will be worth €2.5 million, more than enough to let you jet off to tropical climes at the drop of a hat. That’s the plan for Gerry Murphy of Ballinrobe, Co Mayo, who visited lottery headquarters in Dublin yesterday to collect his €6.3 million Irish Lotto jackpot cheque from last Saturday night’s draw. Carpenter Murphy hasn’t any work on at the moment, so he says he is looking forward to visiting “places that are hot and sunny.”
In an interview with UTV, the 52-year-old pledged to continue plying his trade despite the huge windfall, although he is considering looking for a new house. Gerry has been playing the same numbers since he was in his thirties, with them finally coming good on Saturday when he bagged not only the jackpot, but a €1 scratchcard too!
