How A Syndicate Can Boost Your Irish Lotto Chances

How A Syndicate Can Boost Your Irish Lotto Chances

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 12:15 pm

The odds of winning the Irish Lotto jackpot are already more favourable than for many other lottery games, but there are a number of ways in which players can increase their chances. Some of these methods will involve using number systems and buying multiple lines, but you might also decide to join a syndicate.

Syndicate Benefits

By joining forces with other players, you are boosting your chances of winning because you can combine your efforts to select lots of sets of numbers. The odds are the same for each line, but if you have maybe 10 or more entries then it makes you ten times as likely to land that big jackpot. The advantage is that you can split the cost between everyone in the group, so you are only parting with as much cash as if you had played one line by yourself.

If you win as a syndicate you would have to share the money, of course, but you would also be able to share the experience together and take pleasure from the success of those around you. You could team up with friends, family members or work colleagues and sort out a syndicate in a matter of minutes, although it is recommended that you draw up a formal syndicate agreement to let everyone know what numbers will be entered, which draws you are playing and when payment is expected.

Winning Group

It has been estimated that around one in five lottery prizes are won by syndicates, and one lucky group from Cork City recently came forward to claim an impressive prize. The seven-strong syndicate, made up of sound engineers from the Cork Opera House, picked up €26,103 after matching five EuroMillions numbers in the draw on Friday 29th September.

Odds

Irish Lotto has better odds than EuroMillions for players who dream of winning the jackpot, with a 1 in 10.7 million chance of scooping the top prize. The jackpot is currently at €5.5 million following a run of seven rollovers, having not been won since a player pocketed €2.3 million on Wednesday 13th September.

If you form a syndicate, you are likely to cover a good spread of numbers between you and perhaps pick up a few smaller prizes even if you miss out on the jackpot.
