Dublin Player Sets Online Record With €14.6 Million Lotto Jackpot Win

Dublin Player Sets Online Record With €14.6 Million Lotto Jackpot Win

Last Updated: Monday 29th January 2024, 13:41 pm

An Irish Lotto player was left celebrating a record win on Saturday night as they landed a jackpot worth €14.6 million. It is the largest Lotto prize ever to be won online in Ireland.

The jackpot had climbed to its highest amount in more than two years following a run of 30 rollovers over the last three and a half months.

A few more draws without a winner and the record for the biggest prize of all time could have been under threat, but someone matched all six main numbers - 3, 8, 10, 24, 32 and 41 - on 27th January. Go to the Results page to see full draw details, as well as what happened in Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2.

The winning ticket was bought online in Dublin, so the lucky player received an automatic notification to check their account and make contact with the lottery claims team.

A spokesperson for the Irish Lottery said: “It’s sure to be a weekend of celebrations for an online player in Dublin who has become the first Lotto jackpot winner of 2024. Not only that but the €14.67 million winner has also taken a list of titles with their massive win including highest online Lotto jackpot winner and seventh-highest jackpot winner since the game began.

“It is undoubtedly life-changing and of course shocking for the winner who will see the winning amount on their ticket when they log into their National Lottery account. As Ireland’s newest multi-millionaire, we are advising the winner to make contact with our prize claims team as soon as possible and we will make arrangements for them to visit the Winners Room to collect their cheque.”

The winner has 90 days from the draw date to come forward and claim the money.

Biggest Lotto Wins

The biggest Lotto win of all time came in January 2022, when a family syndicate from Castlebar in Co Mayo picked up more than €19 million. The record win came after lottery bosses had to change the rules and hold a ‘Will Be Won’ draw because the jackpot had been at its cap for so long. The money could have flowed down to winners in the category below, but in the end there was one ticket that matched all the numbers.

A group of quarry workers had previously been the biggest Lotto winners, having banked €18.9 million all the way back in June 2008. Go to the Winners page to find out about the five largest jackpots ever paid out.

The top prize will now revert to €2 million for Wednesday’s draw. Make sure to get involved and keep an eye out for the results as soon as they are available.
