Dublin Couple Delighted to Claim Huge Irish Lotto Jackpot

A husband and wife from Dublin have come forward to collect the massive €11.3 million Irish Lotto jackpot won on Saturday 3rd December. They matched all six main numbers to end a run of rollovers stretching back to the start of October and become the second largest winners of 2016, but have vowed to carry on leading normal lives.
The lucky duo bought a Quick Pick ticket at the Spar Store in the Top Service Station on Amiens Street, but were initially oblivious to their good fortune as speculation started to swirl about the identity of the winner and customers flocked to the store. Having gone through Sunday as usual, cooking dinner and watching football, realisation only set in after the husband saw on the news where the winning ticket had been sold.
Winners have 90 days to claim Irish National Lottery prizes, but they felt there was no need to wait too long and came in to pick up their eight-figure cheque on Thursday. Whilst they have decided to remain anonymous, the couple have been happy to express just what the win means to them, saying there are ‘so many things we want to do for our loved ones’.
A long holiday will have to wait until at least August due to the husband’s commitments with the Dublin Gaelic Athletic Association, but they are planning to take a short break and enjoy the win as much as possible. However, they will not let the windfall change them too much and he has no plans to quit his job as a civil servant.
He said: "I will definitely be returning to work after a small break. I enjoy what I do, so the win won’t force me into early retirement just yet. We’re going to have a memorable Christmas surrounded by the ones we love. I will be doing the cooking on Christmas Day as usual and we will have all the kids and extended family there to celebrate with us."
