Co Kerry Couple To Travel The World in Style After Big Irish Lotto Win

A husband and wife from Co Kerry have set their sights on a long retirement full of travel and relaxation after collecting a big Irish Lotto prize. The lucky couple won €149,347 on Wednesday 20th June and say it is wonderful that they will no longer have to ‘scrimp and save’.
The happy pair bought their Lotto ticket from Maxol Service Station in Rathass, Tralee, on the day of the draw, and matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball. The numbers drawn were 11, 26, 32, 36, 42 and 47, with Bonus Ball 34.
A Magical Feeling
Irish National Lottery players have 90 days to come forward and claim prizes, but the fortunate couple saw no need to wait after finding out about their win almost straight away. The wife explained: “It was a huge shock to the system, that’s for sure. We were at home last Wednesday night looking at the draw on TV and we noticed straight away that we had quite a good few numbers called out.
“We had no idea of what we had won so my husband got on the computer straight away and up popped a message to say we had won nearly €150,000! It was magical."
The husband and wife travelled to Lotto headquarters in Dublin on Monday afternoon to claim their prize and are now looking forward to a bright future. They are particularly excited about the opportunity to visit lots of exciting new places.
“This is huge for us,” said the wife. “While we haven’t won millions, this amount will still go a long way for us to enjoy our retirement. We will be able to start planning for some holidays and trips away without having to worry about scrimping and saving here and there.”
The couple have decided to remain anonymous, and have been careful not to tell to many people. The wife said: “We have told our very close family and they are absolutely thrilled for us. We plan to share the win with our children but we have a bucket list of holiday destinations that we want to get through and now is the perfect opportunity to enjoy our retirement with some holidays of a lifetime."
