Irish Lotto offers jackpots of at least seven figures twice a week and players across the country carefully consider which numbers to choose to give themselves the best chance of winning. While many ticket holders are sure to stick to their favourite lines or opt for a Quick Pick, a detailed study of lottery draws from around the world has shown which numbers are the luckiest.
The new analysis, carried out by Jackpot.com, explored winning numbers from 15 lotteries around the world, including EuroMillions, Powerball, UK Lotto and Irish Lotto. It was found that the number 16 has been drawn more frequently than any other number in the last year, with 191 appearances. Next on the list are 22, 28, 37, 6 and 3. The six numbers drawn least frequently have been 18, 46, 40, 41, 32 and 36.
You can also visit the Irish Lotto Statistics page to find out the latest stats from Ireland’s popular national game, including the most overdue numbers, the most common pairs and the numbers drawn most frequently. The number 2 has appeared the most times, followed by 38, 12, 10, 6 and 27.
The stats page also charts the progress of the Irish Lotto jackpot for the last 180 days, and shows that there has been a lot of success for players in recent months. The top prize was most recently won on Wednesday 5th July, when a participant won €6.4 million with a ticket bought in Cootehill in Co Cavan.
While the lucky Irish Lotto winner has yet to come forward, the player who snapped up last Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot of €28.9 million has already been in contact about their fabulous prize. The all-important ticket is believed to belong to a small family syndicate, bought at the Garryduff XL Store on Pound Road in Castlebar, Co Mayo.
