A supervisor at a double glazing factory in Manchester who bets on Irish Lotto through Betfred won £150,000 (€179,165) from a £1 (€1.19) bet on last Saturday’s draw. Wayne Reeves, of Wythenshawe, is considering spending some of his windfall on a Manchester United season ticket and a new car to make his journey to work in the morning more convenient.
The lucky punter had never previously considered betting on lotteries until he found himself chatting with a taxi driver at Christmas time. “[He] said he’d had a few small wins on the Irish lottery and I just thought I would give it a go,” said Wayne in a press release issued by Betfred, adding that “each week since the beginning of the year I have been picking three or five numbers on the Irish Lottery.” Many bookmakers offer markets on lotteries around the world, allowing players to make big returns for matching anything from just one number upwards. See the Irish Lottery Betting page for more information on this fun way to enjoy draw games.
Wayne had been relying on public transport to get him to work a few miles away from home at a factory in Altrincham, but is now looking forward to having his own wheels, which should allow him some valuable extra sleep. He is also excited about being able to sample the atmosphere at the Theatre of Dreams, stating, “I have been a Manchester United fan since I have been in short pants but nowadays only watch them on TV, but now I could well get down to Old Trafford next season.” In addition, he is looking to pay off some of his mortgage, book a holiday and treat his wife, daughter and stepson.
Wayne’s Lucky Dip entry correctly matched the numbers 4, 27, 29, 42 and 45 from the Irish Lotto draw on Saturday 25th June and Betfred owner Fred Done was among the first to wish the winner well. “Congratulations Wayne,” said the bookie, “that’s a brilliant win - and from such a small stake which is what we at Betfred are all about.”
