Limerick Lotto Winner is Hours Away from Missing Out

Last Updated: Friday 15th April 2016, 11:00 am

An Irish Lotto ticket holder from County Limerick will miss out on a €117,317 payday if they don’t make contact with lottery officials by 5:30pm today. The player bought a €5 Quick Pick ticket for the draw on Saturday 16th January from the Elm Court service station in Ballyneety and managed to match five main numbers and the Bonus Ball that night. However, they have yet to present their ticket and collect their winnings, with the end of the claims period looming at the close of business today.

The Irish National Lottery is hoping to grab the unwitting player’s attention by flashing messages up on the digital displays at local retailers, reminding lottery fans to dig out their old tickets and check them thoroughly. If you have unchecked Irish Lotto entries, click through to the Irish Lotto Ticket Checker, which will do the job for you and let you know the prizes your numbers have won in every draw over the past 90 days, the length of time winners have to stake their claim.

Aideen Fitzpatrick, owner of Elm Court, told the Limerick Leader that news of the unclaimed prize was the hot topic in the village and that it was likely to be a local who is sitting on the six-figure sum without knowing it, “unless it was someone going to Bruff or Kilmallock and they stopped for petrol but it is mainly people in the area,” she explained. “I’d love to see it won. I’m really hoping someone will come forward, it would be great. It would be such a pity to see it go unclaimed.”

Ms Fitzpatrick also confirmed that a man from the area had been bemoaning having lost his ticket for the winning draw and would never know whether or not the cash could have been his if there is no valid claim today. Irish Lotto rules state that a winner’s ticket is the only valid proof of purchase when attempting to pick up their prize.

Players who purchase Irish Lotto entries at retailers are advised to sign the back of their tickets to prove their ownership should they win anything in the game. To avoid missing out on a life-changing fortune, you can buy Irish Lotto tickets online for Saturday’s €6.5 million draw. Online tickets can’t be lost and you will receive an email informing you if you win. See the Buy Tickets page for more details. Good luck!
