The Irish Lotto jackpot was won for the second time in four draws last night as a single player matched all six main numbers to scoop €2.9 million. The winning ticket was sold in the mid west of the country, and the lucky participant now has 90 days to come forward and claim their prize.
Wednesday’s winning numbers were 1, 4, 5, 6, 18 and 47, plus the Bonus Ball 35. Along with the jackpot winner, there were also 19 ticket holders who matched five main numbers to win €1,470 each. The other prizes won ranged from a €3 scratchcard for matching two main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to €163 for matching four main numbers plus the Bonus Ball.
The Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 draws also created thousands of winners, while 79 players picked up €300 each after matching the winning Irish Lotto Raffle number of 2487. It has been revealed that the jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Limerick. Sean Coughlan, who owns Coughlan's Gala on Quinlan Street, has said that 'speculation is rife' as to the winner might be. He added: "We have a lot of offices on our street so maybe it's a work syndicate."
The Irish Lotto jackpot had previously been won on Saturday 26th August, by a player who bought their ticket in the Spar Store on Talbot Street, Dublin 1, to bring an end to a run of 14 rollovers.
