Irish Lotto Jackpot Hits €8 Million

Last Updated: Thursday 4th August 2016, 11:10 am

Irish Lotto ticket holders will be keen to play for a jackpot of €8 million this Saturday after Wednesday night’s draw failed to produce a winner. This is now the 12th straight time the jackpot has rolled over since it was last claimed on Wednesday 22nd June and is the largest prize on offer since March of this year.

The winning numbers from this Wednesday night’s draw were 11, 14, 15, 27, 29 and 37, with 44 making an appearance as the Bonus Ball. Despite the jackpot remaining at large, the draw did see 35,090 players claim prizes ranging from a €3 scratch card for matching two main numbers and the Bonus Ball to €1,977 for matching five main numbers. For a full breakdown of prizes and additional draw information, head to the Irish Lotto Results page.

With August well underway, 2016 certainly has some catching up to do in terms of producing jackpot winners. The current year has seen six ticket holders walk away with jackpots of between €2 million and €13.7 million, while 2015 saw 14 ticket holders tickled pink with big prize wins. 2014 proved even more successful, with 16 players hitting the joyous heights of a hefty jackpot win. With the prize pot overflowing this weekend, the crowning of the seventh Irish Lotto winner of the year surely cannot be that far away.

News of this latest jackpot total comes after a 35-strong syndicate from a school in Co Offaly came forward to collect an Irish Lotto prize of €65,861. The group, consisting of teachers, other employees and former colleagues, successfully matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball on Saturday 9th July. The collective may not have come forward to claim their reward immediately, but they were well within the 90-day deadline set out by lottery officials. However, the same cannot be said for a ticket holder from Cork who is set to miss out on a EuroMillions prize worth €381,863 if they do not make themselves known to National Lottery officials before 5.30pm on Thursday 4th August.

If you’d like to be in with a chance of becoming the game’s next big money winner, Irish Lotto tickets are available to buy online or from any authorised retailer throughout the Republic. Good luck!
