Lotto Jackpot Winners Eye ‘World of Possibilities’

The Irish Lotto jackpot winners who landed €8.2 million this summer have set their sights on travelling the world after coming forward to claim their life-changing prize.
The money has been claimed by a syndicate of players from Tipperary, who called in at Obama Plaza in Moneygall, Co. Offaly, ahead of the draw on 25th July and grabbed a Quick Pick ticket on the spur of the moment while buying some food.
Reflecting on the moment they found out about the win, one member of the group said: “The shock was unbelievable. I had to knock on the bathroom door and call my partner out of the shower to show them what I was seeing. There were tears in my eyes as it started to sink in."
The winner added: “We found out on All-Ireland final day, so we joked that Mayo weren't the only ones getting a shock that day! Since then, we've kept the ticket as close as possible to us. It was tucked safely away and even came on holiday because there was no way we were leaving it behind.”
Speaking about their plans for the future, the winners said they would like to explore the world but also do some home improvements.
“This win has opened up a world of possibilities. When we look at a map, we can start planning all the places we've always dreamed about visiting. South America, seeing the Northern Lights and taking our first-ever cruise are all on the bucket list,” said the syndicate’s spokesperson.
“The ticket that came on holiday with us has become a passport for more adventures! Closer to home, we'd love to take on a few projects around the house and build a greenhouse where we can spend more time enjoying our passion for gardening!"
Lotto Plus 2 Crowns First Millionaire
It has been a summer of big winners, and one lucky player kept the celebrations going on Saturday night when they became the first millionaire in Lotto Plus 2.
The prize structure in the Lotto Plus games recently underwent an overhaul as part of wider changes to Irish Lotto, so both Plus 1 and Plus 2 both have a €1 million jackpot.
