Irish Lotto Prize Winner Begins Retirement in the Best Way Possible

A man from Co Meath has started his retirement in the best way possible after landing an Irish Lotto prize worth €78,817. The prosperous pensioner was “thrilled” to discover that he had landed a five-figure prize after correctly matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the draw on Saturday 7th October.
“Absolutely Thrilled”
A native of the county town, Navan, the man purchased his winning ticket from the Newsround newsagents on Railway Street prior to the draw and was rather happy to discover that he would soon be receiving a cheque for almost €80,000. The man, who has opted to keep his identity a secret, wasted no time in contacting game officials to arrange a meeting at National Lottery headquarters in Dublin.
"I am absolutely thrilled to have won,” the man told staff as he sat waiting in the National Lottery Winners' Room on Friday afternoon. He then went on to reveal that he had only just called time on his days of work: "I’ve only recently retired so I have been making my plans for retirement and this stroke of luck will make retirement a lot easier.
Surrounded by his loved ones, the man, who was one of three second tier prize winners in the draw, explained that he would be using his newfound fortune to make those he cared for most very happy: "I look forward to sharing this with all of these special people," he smiled.
Unclaimed Irish Lottery Prizes
The retired man may have claimed his prize in double quick time, but there are still a number of Irish Lotto and EuroMillions rewards to be claimed, including two EuroMillions Plus jackpots of €500,000. Dermot Griffin, CEO of the National Lottery, has urged ticket holders to check their playslips: "If you are one of these lucky ticket holders, be sure to sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 01 836 4444."
