Dublin Syndicate To Put Families First After €4.7 Million Irish Lotto Win

Dublin Syndicate To Put Families First After €4.7 Million Irish Lotto Win

Last Updated: Tuesday 7th July 2020, 12:36 pm

Five work colleagues from Dublin have set their sights on new cars and exotic holidays after they came forward to collect an Irish Lotto win of €4.7 million. The lucky syndicate scooped the jackpot on Wednesday 29th August and they decided to take a bit of time before submitting their claim.

They bought their ticket at the Londis Store in Summerhill, Co.Meath, five days before the draw took place, and the syndicate leader could not believe it when the numbers 26, 27, 25, 40, 41 and 42 appeared. He recalled: “It was a bizarre feeling. I never thought I’d be that calm in such a situation but a part of me thought that I had to be making a mistake so I had to wait for the results to come through.”

‘Tremendous To Share This Journey’

He said that calling his fellow workers to tell them the good news was a wonderful feeling, as there was a ‘moment of disbelief and then pure and utter joy’ with everyone. “It’s a tremendous experience to be able to share this journey with a group of people who are as close as we are,” he enthused.

Each member of the group will pocket more than €954,000 from the win, and they are now looking forward to enjoying bright futures with their families. They are determined to spend the money sensibly, but also want to have some fun.

“We purposely took a little time out to think about what we would do with our winnings,” said the lucky players. “Each of the syndicate has their own plans but I know many of them will be wiping their mortgages clean and paying off bills. We’ll definitely treat ourselves to new cars and a couple of holidays but the most important thing to us are our families who will come first in any of our spending plans.”

How To Become a Millionaire This Week

The Irish lotto jackpot has rolled over three times since the syndicate from Cork won the jackpot, but there have still been lots of other big winners in the past few draws. One ticket holder matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball on Saturday night to pick up €262,249. Go to the Irish Lotto Results page to view more information about recent draws.

The top prize will rise to €3.2 million for the next game on Wednesday evening, while the Lotto Plus 1 jackpot is now worth €1 million in every draw following recent changes to the game. If you can’t wait until Wednesday, you could try to become a millionaire in Daily Million, or enter Tuesday night’s EuroMillions for the chance to land €25 million.
