Dublin Mates Win Big Irish Lotto Prize After 30 Years

Dublin Mates Win Big Irish Lotto Prize After 30 Years

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 15:43 pm

Nearly three decades of persistence has paid off for a couple of lifelong friends from Dublin after they won a huge Irish Lotto prize in Saturday night’s draw. The pair of pals matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to scoop €65,718, and have quickly come forward to claim the money and reveal their exciting plans for the future.

The Quick Pick ticket was bought at Mannion’s Newsagent in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, on the day of the draw, and the lucky ladies say they spent the entire weekend checking the numbers before they received confirmation on Monday.

They also say that the win is especially sweet because they have achieved it together after such a long time. One of the friends explained: “For almost 30 years we have dreamed of winning the Lotto together so it's great to be finally here in the winners’ room. It’s not the jackpot prize but it’s the next best thing. We've been playing Lotto religiously together for nearly three decades and we've always dreamed about winning a top prize.”

The winners, who have decided to stay anonymous, intend to share their good fortune with friends and family. One of the women said: “It may not sound like a life-changing sum of money to win but we’ll certainly put it to good use. We will be dividing the win among children and grandchildren but we’ll make sure that we get some enjoyment out of it ourselves. We’re going to have all of our family and friends together in the next few days so we can celebrate in style.”

While Irish Lotto continues to create big winners like the Dublin friends in every draw, the jackpot has not been given away since a lucky player won €6.5 million on Wednesday 5th July. The top prize for Saturday’s game stands at €5 million, and you can bet online now or visit any authorised retailer in Ireland. Good luck!
