Irish Lotto Jackpot Winner Thanks Black Cat

The two jackpot-winning tickets from Saturday night’s Irish Lotto draw have both been claimed, with one family syndicate from Co Kerry revealing that a run-in with a black cat had prompted them to buy entries and the other lucky player thanking guests at a wedding he had attended for reminding him to check the results.
Both tickets matched all six main numbers drawn on 1st October to grab a share of the €4.5 million top prize. One of the entries was purchased at Hannah Mary’s County Store XL in Killgorin, Co Kerry, by a pair who wish to remain anonymous but have disclosed some details of their story. The duo, now a combined €2.26 million richer, said in the Irish Mirror: “We were on the way to the shop and a black cat ran in front of the car. It must have been fate!”
The other winner entered the game at Centra Foodmarket in Carrigart, Co Donegal, whilst he was in town for a wedding, and has admitted he still feels like he is ‘in a dream’. He added: “I checked my ticket on Sunday after the news went around the wedding the night before that a winning ticket was sold in the shop. I couldn’t believe it when I saw I had the winning numbers. I kept checking the ticket.”
The lucky player, who has also decided not to reveal his name, has already set his sights on a new car, but is determined not to let his new-found wealth go to his head. He explained: “It will make life more comfortable but I’ll keep my feet on the ground, and think about my future.”
There will be another opportunity for Irish Lotto players to hit the jackpot, currently at €2.5 million, on Saturday, but before that there is also a huge EuroMillions draw tomorrow night. The top prize has climbed to a stunning €156 million. Who knows, if you see a black cat this week it could turn out to be just as lucky for you as it was for the couple from Kerry!
